RosaVet compared with Shepherd, Digitail, Vetspire, Covetrus Pulse and Provet

What five more practice systems publish about where they run, their prices, contracts and add-ons, from their own terms and pricing pages, checked October 5, 2026.

How to read this

Each line comes from that company’s own published terms, pricing or product pages, checked October 5, 2026. Credit it to them ("Shepherd’s agreement says…"), and say nothing else about them. Where a company publishes nothing, say it is not published — never guess.

What RosaVet publishes, to set beside them: every price on the pricing page, no minimum term on monthly plans (annual prepay is a 12-month term), no setup or implementation fee, free self-serve import, AI included, and a 30-day free trial alongside your current system.

Shepherd

  • Runs in the cloud, in a browser; notes can be written ahead without a connection and sync later.
  • No public price list: Shepherd says pricing is discussed in a demo. Its page says texting, reminders, a client portal, digital forms and Shepherd Pay are included.
  • Its service agreement (updated May 22, 2024): a one-year term that renews every year; the clinic may end it any time with 14 days’ notice. Shepherd pays for a standard migration, but the clinic owes a $2,750 migration fee if it cancels within the first 12 months, delays onboarding more than five months, or never launches. On exit, data comes back as CSV files.
  • Shepherd says Hippo Manager has been acquired by Shepherd.

Digitail

  • Cloud, on any device. Plans are Mobile, Growth, Growth AI and Enterprise, with no prices published.
  • Unlimited staff users on every plan (Digitail does not publish what its price is based on); the AI scribe comes with Growth and Growth AI; texting (SMS, MMS, two-way) is an add-on; in-house data migration is included.
  • Its terms (updated February 12, 2025): all purchases are non-refundable, and prices may change at any time.

Vetspire

  • Cloud, with iPad apps for some specialties. No public price list.
  • Its subscription agreement (updated September 3, 2025): fees are per doctor per month (doctors working fewer than 10 shifts a month are not counted); a paid implementation package is required and due within 10 days; billing starts when setup is finished or 12 weeks after signing, whichever comes first; after the first term it renews month to month, with 30 days’ written notice to end it; fees are non-refundable; texting is billed per use.
  • Its AI scribe is listed as an add-on, with no price published.

Covetrus Pulse

  • Cloud-based; Covetrus says its AI SOAP notes come at no extra cost. No public price list.
  • Covetrus’s Terms of Service (version March 30, 2026): a three-year first term, then it renews every year; 90 days’ written notice to stop the renewal; Covetrus may change pricing with 30 days’ notice.
  • Its onboarding agreement: onboarding, including data conversion, is a paid quote — half at signing, half at go-live — and non-refundable.
  • Covetrus says its full pet-owner portal needs Pulse plus two more Covetrus products, vRxPro and Comms; Comms is the one that brings texting and video visits.

Provet Cloud

  • Runs in a browser, no server in the clinic.
  • Published US prices: Core is $99 per vet a month plus a $249 monthly platform fee that includes one vet; Pro is $129 per vet plus a $299 platform fee that includes one vet. Non-vet staff are free. The AI scribe is a $40 per seat monthly add-on.
  • Its terms (effective September 17, 2026): an implementation fee, half at signing and half at go-live; three months’ notice before the term ends; charges are non-refundable; cancelling before go-live costs 25% to 100% of the migration and implementation fees.
  • Provet says it migrates from Cornerstone, AVImark and Impromed.

Common questions

How is RosaVet different from Shepherd?
From Shepherd’s own agreement: a one-year term that renews yearly (end it with 14 days’ notice), a $2,750 migration fee if you leave in the first year, and no public price list. RosaVet’s monthly plans have no minimum term, prices are public and self-serve import is free, and you can try it free for 30 days alongside your current system.
Provet is cheaper per vet, isn’t it?
Provet publishes lower per-vet prices, plus a monthly platform fee and a $40 per seat AI scribe. Its terms add an implementation fee, three months’ notice before the term ends and non-refundable charges. RosaVet includes AI, has no implementation fee and no minimum term on monthly plans, and you can test it free for 30 days next to what you use now.
